Now this is something you do not hear everyday. What do you do when you want to raise awareness on migration? Well this year’s edition of Ethical Fashion Initiative (EFI) event in Florence saw three asylum seekers walk down the runway during one of their fashion show’s dubbed ‘Generation Africa’
The interesting thing was that no one could tell who was the real runway model and who was a phony. The models whose ages range between 19-27 strutted their fab legs down the runway like a pro.
The founder of EFI Simone Cipariani disclosed in an interview with AFP.com that..
”As we are in Italy and have a huge refugee crisis we also want to show that migrants are a resource, we are setting up a training centre for refugees and migrants in Italy to work in the industry of fashion and be enabled to go back home and set up their own businesses there”
The event also had four African fashion brands which included AKJP, Ikiré Jones, Lukhanyo Mdinigi x Nicholas Coutts and U.Mi-1 showcase their designs
What do you think, was this a great move?
