All the feminist around the world might have to get their claws out for this one. Nigeria’s first lady Aisha Buhari recently revealed in an interview with BBC Hausa that she might not support her hubby’s re-election in 2019 because she believes his government has been hijacked by those who did not campaign for him and that Buhari didn’t know most of the officials he had appointed.
Well Nigeria’s President; Muhammadu Buhari, is currently on an official trip in Germany and was questioned about his wife’s recent remarks.
The president replied….
“I don’t know which party my wife belongs to, but she belongs to my kitchen and my living room and the other room”
Say what now? Of course this did not sit too well with many Nigerians.
Check out a few reactions from social media below:
My attention has been drawn to the fact that Mr & Mrs Buhari have resorted to exchanging banter publicly
This govt is a shame to democracy

I feel so privileged to be growing up in an era where women are presidents of countries, women are running conglomerates, women are effortlessly juggling child bearing whilst running billion dollar companies, discovering cures to treating diseases and so many other extraordinary things. No woman should be confined to a kitchen, living room or any "other room". My country has progressed so much in encouraging young girls to pursue their dreams. To be hearing this in 2016 breaks me and I will speak against it till it is finished. #RespectAWomanAndBeRespected
Ain't no man under 50 saying what Buhari said to his wife if he's not prepared to meet his maker

Buhari has handled his wife criticising him about the same way as he has handled the economy

Wow. Buhari like most men reflexively utilize sexism to reassert dominance when cornered. Disgusting! https://t.co/KqAQeYP3b5

Popular Nigerian business man Dele Momodu on the other hand, believes this was apparently a joke.
What do you think about all this
