Riyad Mahrez Named BBC African Footballer of The Year 2016

Algerian football star Riyad Mahrez has been crowned as the BBC African Footballer of The Year 2016.

The 25-year-old Leicester midfielder beat  Andrew Ayew, Yaya Toure, Sadio Mane and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to scoop this award.

In an interview with BBC Sport, Riyad revealed…

”It means a lot, it’s something big for African players so I am very happy, I am very proud. It’s always good to receive awards and for African players it’s a huge honour”
