British-Ghanaian star Alec Boateng aka Twin B has been appointed co-head of A&R at Atlantic Records UK. The BBC 1Xtra DJ will be working alongside Briony Turner. The duo will apparently oversee the Atlantic A&R team, joint projects, as well as maintaining their own artist rosters.
Recently rapper Stormzy (who is also of Ghanaian descent) made the news when he signed his #Merky label to Atlantic Records and guess who was behind all that…Yup Twin B. He has also worked with the likes of Wrecth 32, WSTRN, Rita Ora, Kojo Funds among a host of others.
In a press statement via Music Week.com, Alec Boateng disclosed….
“I love music and deeply enjoy the opportunity to work with special artists. Being part of the process of creating brilliant music and art that means something and that deserves to be heard is an amazing thing. Atlantic UK is the best place for that. There’s a family vibe, our artists and team come together to share in each other’s creativity and success – it’s an explosive catalyst. I’m humbled and privileged to be working with and around some geniuses! Exciting times continue!”
