Guess we may no longer have a fierce boss lady leading any of the countries in the motherland. The President of Mauritius, Ameenah Gurib-Fakim is reported to resign following a financial scandal. Ameenah Gurib-Fakim who was elected into office in 2015 is currently being accused of using a bank card provided by a charity to make thousands of dollars worth of personal purchases.
What does Madam President have to say about all this? Well, in a Reuters News Report, Ameenah Gurib-Fakim denied any wrongdoing and said she had refunded all the money.
Angolan billionaire Alvaro Sobrinho who funds the charity is also reported to be investigated for fraud.
However, Mauritian Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth disclosed to reporters that…
“The president of the republic told me that she would resign from office and we agreed on the date of her departure. The interest of the country comes first, and I am proud of Mauritius’s image as a model of living democracy in the world.”
