Louis Vuitton Appoints Ghanaian Star Virgil Abloh As Their Men’s Artistic Director

Virgil Abloh has been named as the Men’s Artistic Director for Louis Vuitton. The 37-year-old Ghanaian-American designer who has worked with the likes of Kanye West, Nike among a host of other brands is set to debut his very first collection with the french fashion house this June during Men’s Fashion Week in Paris.

In a statement, Virgil Abloh disclosed….

“It is an honor for me to accept the position of men’s artistic director for Louis Vuitton, I find the heritage and creative integrity of the house are key inspirations and will look to reference them both while drawing parallels to modern times.”

What is even interesting about all this is that, Virgil did not attend fashion school nor have a fashion degree. He apparently received a Masters of Architecture at the Illinois Institute of Technology and his undergraduate in Civil Engineering at the University of Wisconsin–Madison.

Can’t wait to see what he comes up with! Virgil Abloh also revealed to the New York Times that……

”This opportunity to think through what the next chapter of design and luxury will mean at a brand that represents the pinnacle of luxury was always a goal in my wildest dreams. And to show a younger generation that there is no one way anyone in this kind of position has to look is a fantastically modern spirit in which to start”
