Plus-size women don’t always appear on the runway or the hottest fashion magazine, true or false? After being in the music scene for over five years, South African singer, Busiswa Gqulu has bagged her very first magazine cover. The new mom is the May 2018 cover star for Bona Magazine.
Apparently, the singer was constantly told that she could not make it in music business because of her size. In a social media post Busiswa shared:
”It’s about all the girls who’ve been told the same things I’ve heard: “you’re too big”, “you must do more than talk in your songs”, “you were better off as a poet, for your body-type ” “what will you do if you run out of ideas?”, “we don’t design plus-sizes here”… well 5 years in the music industry & there is one thing I know for sure: I AM ENOUGH!! YOU are enough

In the issue, the singer opens up about her tough childhood, dominating the music industry and embracing what she considers to be her biggest role yet; being a mom to her four-month-old son, Lakhanya.
Now the big question is, what would you do if you were featured on a magazine cover for the very first time. Check out these Instagram videos of Busiswa in the streets.
