M.I.A To Perform & Screen Her Documentary In South Africa

M.I.A is coming to the motherland! The British-Sri Lankan artiste is set to attend the screening of a tell-all documentary about her life and also perform at two concerts in Cape Town and Johannesburg (South Africa).
The film is titled Matangi/Maya/M.I.A and it delves into M.IA’s personal life away from her music career. Premiering in Mzansi on 31 May, the critically acclaimed documentary will be screened at The Encounters South African International Documentary Festival.

Matangi/Maya/M.I.A recently won the World Cinema Documentary Special Jury Award at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival in USA. Speaking to Indiewire during an interview, M.IA revealed….
This film is kind of weird because it’s not really about my music. It doesn’t really have my art in it. It’s not a film like that where it sort of teaches you how to be cool or how you can make a beat, it is not one of those. This is sort of more personal”
The dates for her performances in South Africa are as follows:
Cape Town

Johannesburg
