Serena Williams Withdraws from 2018 Italian Open

We will not be seeing Serena Williams doing her ‘thang’ at the 2018 Italian Open. The tennis superstar and new mom has announced her withdrawal from the competition. Five days ago, Serena also dropped out of the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) event in Madrid. Serena Williams says she needs more time to prepare for her first clay season since giving birth in September.

Serena has won two and lost two of her four WTA matches since she returned to the tour in March this year. The 23-time Grand Slam has not played a match on clay since reaching the final at Roland Garros in 2016.

During her return in March, Serena reached the third round at Indian Wells. She was however beaten by sister Venus Williams, before falling in the first round of the Miami Open to Japan’s Naomi Osaka.

Guess that’s the little price you have to pay for your beautiful baby. True or false? By the way, how cute is baby Olympia? Serena recently spilled the tea on motherhood and her private life on her new docu-series dubbed Being Serena. If you haven’t seen it yet, peep a teaser below:
