In case if you have not heard the news, President Nana Akufo-Addo has called for the arrest of the President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kwesi Nyantakyi.
On Tuesday morning, Deputy Chief of Staff, Samuel Abu Jinapor, led a press conference to formally announce that Ghana’s President has directed the police to arrest the GFA boss. He stated that a prima facie case has been established against Kwesi Nyantakyi and this however warrants ”a full criminal investigation into the conduct of the accused and any other accomplices that may exist.”
Investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas recently uncovered a huge corruption scandal. In a video, Kwesi Nyantakyi was allegedly caught trying to defraud potential investors by using the President, Vice President and other names of some senior members of government
Kwesi Nyantakyi allegedly revealed:
“Ghana is the easiest place to do business. All you have to do is to give the President of Ghana $5m and the Vice President $3m. I have the President in my pocket. I see him every day. As for the refs, all you need is to give them GHC20 and girls and they are sorted”
Nyantakyi is being accused of defrauding by false pretences and influence peddling. Samuel Abu Jinapor has assured Ghanaians that the case will be dealt with. He said:
“We want to assure the Ghanaian people that the president is determined to fight corruption, to fight crime, fight influence peddling, fight bribery and instill discipline, integrity and honesty into our public life, irrespective of one’s status.”
