AfroRepublik Was Lit! – Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, Eugy, Mr Eazi & More Shut Down London’s O2

It is so amazing how Afrobeats is taking over the world! On Saturday night, Wizkid headlined the very first AfroRepublik Festival in London.
Prior to the event, Wizkid told the Standard (a UK news portal) that:
”I’m very, very excited because this is something I used to speak to my friends about making happen….This festival was a dream and something I used to think about before it ever came to life. I’m just thankful to God we’re doing this.”
Afro Republik was held at the O2 Arena and was hosted by comedian, Eddie Kadi and also had Tim Westwood on the DJ decks. The event was streamed online so fans across the world who could not be there, caught all the action live. Eugy, Maleek Berry, Mr Eazi, Yxng Bane, Tiwa Savage, Not3s and Tekno who were booked to perfom all brought their A-game.
Yxng Bane had a few surprise acts up his sleeve. He brought out Kojo Funds and Sona to perform with him on stage. Mr Eazi also pulled no stops! The landlord of Grime; Giggs, Birmingham duo; Lotto Boyzz, Afro B and Akwaaba hitmaker; Guilty Beatz all came out to support the Afrobeat star.

Guess which supermodel made an appearance on the Afro Republik stage? Naomi Campbell! She seems to be loving the motherland lately. Ms Campbell introduced the starboy, Wizkid.

In other related news, Flava from the UK-Afro duo, Kwamz and Flava was quite upset about the line-up of Afro Republik. He apparently believed the list of performers did not represent the ‘UK-Afrobeat’ scene. Do you agree? Because the last time I checked, Maleek Berry and Eugy are acts from that same genre or am I wrong? Check out the video below:
