Mamoudou Gassama has been labelled as ‘spiderman’ after he saved a child from falling off a four-storey building in Paris. In a viral video, the 22-year-old Malian migrant was seen quickly and confidently climbing various balconies to rescue the four-year-old boy as a massive crowd cheered on.
Mamoudou Gassama’s selfless act caught the attention of President Emmanuel Macron. The french president personally thanked the Malian and even promised that Gassama would be made a naturalized citizen and also be offered a job in the fire service. How sweet is that? God is good.
Gassama’s visit was apparently not a smooth nor safe one. He arrived in France last year via a boat over the Mediterranean to Italy. Speaking to reporters, Mamoudou Gassama talked about the inspiration for his heroic act:
“I saw all these people shouting, and cars sounding their horns. I climbed up like that and, thank God, I saved the child….I felt afraid when I saved the child … [when] we went into the living room, I started to shake, I could hardly stand up, I had to sit down”
