The 2018 edition of the Ghana UK Based Achievement Awards (GUBA) was held on Saturday night at the Intercontinental Hotel, O2 in London. The event which aims to celebrate exceptional Ghanaian-UK individuals and businesses, awarded the likes of Stormzy, Joshua Buatsi, Dr Cecilia Anim CBE, Michael Dapaah among a host others.
Prior to the event, Dentaa Amoateng MBE (founder of GUBA Awards) urged Ghanaians all over the world to put their country first. In a press statement, she shared:
“It is our strong belief that to have a Ghana that exceeds our expectations, we have to harness and combine the resources of the Diaspora with that of Ghana based citizens. Together, we can effectively improve the socio-economic status of our country. I urge you all to play your role in this movement and to put the advancement of Ghana at the forefront of your proceedings. At GUBA, we work to play our part in this journey, and will continue to do so,”
Former President, Jerry John Rawlings, Amma Asante, Mista Silva, Manny Norte, Menzgold & Zylofon Group CEO, Nana Appiah Mensah and Nana Aba Anamoah were among some of the attendees. This year’s GUBA awards was hosted by Ghanaian media guru, Anita Erskine and Ghanaian-American actor, Boris Kodjoe.
