Now here I was thinking Idris Elba will be the first black person to play James Bond. The writers have just flipped the script and given us a fabulous black woman.
Black-British actress, Lashana Lynch has been cast as the new 007 agent. The twist here is that, Daniel Craig will still play James Bond in the upcoming 25th installment of the 55-year-old franchise. However, Lynch takes over the role of 007 after Daniel Craig’s character goes into retirement. Lynch plays a character named “Nomi”
According to the Daily Mail, a source revealed that, the movie opens with Bond, retired in Jamaica, being called back to action to fight a new villain. “There is a pivotal scene at the start of the film where M says, “Come in 007”, and in walks Lashana who is black, beautiful and a woman,” the source said. “It’s a popcorn-dropping moment. Bond is still Bond but he’s been replaced as 007.”
31-year-old Lashana Lynch was the break-out star when she played Maria Rambeau in Captain Marvel. Will this Jamaican beauty ace this role? Guess we just have to wait and see.
