Mayor of Sekondi-Takoradi, Anthony KK Sam Passes Away
The Mayor for the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly, Hon. Anthony Kobina Kurentsir Sam, has passed away.
Hon. Sam reportedly died at the University of Ghana Hospital on Friday 12 June 2020
According to Starr Fm’s website, a close aide to the mayor in an interview with Empire News’ Emmanuel Ohene-Gyan stated that his former Boss died of COVID-19.
Apparently, the mayor’s personal driver had tested positive for the novel Coronavirus a few weeks ago. The driver was then put into isolation but the mayor carried on with work despite calls for him to self-isolate.
Hon. Sam had led arrangements towards the closure of four major markets in Takoradi on 28th May 2020 due to an increase in COVID-19 cases. He also supervised mass testing for COVID-19 for all Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly.
