Hon. Carlos Ahenkorah Resigns After Breaching Covid-19 Protocols

Deputy Minister for Trade and Industry, Carlos Kingsley Ahenkorah has resigned from his position. This follows his admission of breaching Covid-19 protocols.

It was recently reported that he had tested positive for Coronavirus and he was allegedly admitted in the Intensive Care Unit of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital. Hon. Carlos Ahenkorah came out to admit that indeed he had tested positive for Covid-19 but was never in the Intensive Care Unit.

The Deputy Minister who was spotted this week when he visited his constituency’s voters registration centre instead of self-isolating has turned in his resignation letter.

The Office of the President revealed this morning that President Nana Akufo-Addo had accepted the Deputy Minister for Trade and Industry’s resignation letter which takes immediate effect today, Friday 3, July 2020.

In the statement it was also revealed that the president is “admonishing all of his appointees to bear in mind that they are to provide leadership, at all times, for adherence to the protocols that have been established to help the nation defeat COVID-19.”
