Prison Officer Murdered At Kasoa Over Suspected Robbery

Gideon Adu Boakye, a prison officer has been lynched at Iron City, a suburb close to Kasoa in the Awutu Senya Municipality of the Central Region of Ghana.

Boakye, an officer stationed at Nsawam Prisons met his untimely death last Sunday. The deceased visited his family residing at Iron City. During his visit, Boakye decided to go out for a short while. The late prison officer even asked his family to prepare him a meal before his return. Unfortunately, he never returned home on Sunday 29 September, 2024. The anxious family decided to report the matter to the Ngleshie Amanfro Police Station on Tuesday 1 October, 2024.

Per the family’s description of the deceased, the police revealed the shocking news to them. Boakye had allegedly been murdered by a mob and thrown into a drain at the junction of Hope Restoration School at Iron City. The deceased’s body reportedly had severe machete wounds. Eyewitness report revealed that Boakye was heard shouting “I am not a robber, I’m a prison officer at Nsawam Prisons, I have my ID card.”

The incident apparently occurred at night time during lights out, making it difficult to identify the perpetrators. The family feels the gruesome act was deliberate.

Boakye’s body has been deposited at the Police Hospital Mortuary. The deceased is said to be in his early 30’s with no mention of wife and children.
