A three day anti-galamsey protest has begun. The demonstration is scheduled to run until October 5, 2024. The aim of the protest is to highlight the ongoing environmental destruction caused by illegal mining, locally known as galamsey.
The protest kicked off at Legon Okponglo. The key routes approved by the police include: the Legon Stadium, Okponglo Traffic Light, Shiashie, Shangri-La, Airport Traffic Light, the National Service Secretariat, Electoral Commission Office, Parliament, and ending at Independence Square.
The anti galamsey protest under the hashtag #FreeTheCitizens, #SayNoToGalamsey and #StopGalamseyNow has got many peeps talking on social media.
