Stonebwoy keeps on making Ghana proud, he scored the award for Best Dancehall Artiste…impressive! A couple of months ago Jay Z’s cousin; Briant Biggs aka Bee High and American hip hop artist and producer: Jay Electronica were in Nigeria (just in case if you didn’t know) During the time of their visit they got the chance to hang with the Mavin Crew. Now, how cool is this, Jay Electronica and the Mavin rookies; Di’Ja and Reekado Banks recorded a song together.
To give us a feel of what went down, the Mavin’s team has realesed a video.

Vlisco is on a roll! It was just a couple of months ago that popular wax print brand, Vlisco released the lookbook to their collection titled Feel. Now the brand is back again with another lookbook to their second collection this year which goes by name: Tell
Off his upcoming B.A.R mixtape, Ghanaian rapper E.l, says he is the representation of hiphop from Africa. (Now that’s a pretty bold statement huh?) King Without A Crown was produced by Drumroll, check it out and tell us what you think.
Happy Africa Day! How are you spending the holiday. I am still walking around in my pj’s having those “what am I going to do with myself” moments In the spirit of it being African Union Day, I came across a quote from the best African leader Ghana ever had – Osagefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah
“Action without thought is empty, thought without action is blind”
How many African acts come into mind when you think of the genre Neo-Soul? To be honest not many cross my mind. Today we chit chat with one such acts who is breaking the norm in her own eclectic style.
Armed with a degree in law from the University of Jos, Lindsey Abudei is a singer/songwriter who is gradually taking over the Nigerian Neo Soul music scene a step at a time. In an era where dance music rules, Lindsey says she does not intend on transitioning into an Afrobeats artiste anytime soon. In her own words, she describes her genre of choice as “the genre that lets me mirror the sides to Lindsey.” Interesting huh?
Catch the feature where she dishes out on working with rappers MI and Jesse Jagz, her experience on one of the biggest talent shows – Project Fame, plus I try to find out if she feels any pressure to do better than Afro pop Singer Chidinma who was her fellow competitor on the talent series and also find out my little embarrassing moment. Lets get talking.
Nyhkor Paul is a testament to the fact that, it never matters where you are from with hardwork and perseverance you can make it.
From gracing runway shows in New York, Paris and many more. The South Sudanese model slays on the cover of the May 2015 issue of South Africa’s Elle Magazine.
Let’s talk about Nyhkor for a minute,
Emerging Singer/Songwriter Bryan Doe is out with a brand new music video to his soulful track titled Beatiful. The song features rapper Slink Proper and Sampahh
The video was also directed by the Ghanaian act Sampahh. Check out Bryan Doe’s video below
What’s Thursday without a throwback? Somewhere in December last year, BBC featured the award winning Nigerian video director/cinematographer Kemi Adetiba as part of the series African Dream. Miss Adetiba who has gradually become a household name in the African entertainment scene had a few note worthy pointers for anyone aspiring to making it big in the entertainment front. If you are a wannabe, then this justmight help
I must admit I hardly watch movies not to talk of webisodes just because of the buzz or its popularity, well maybe with the exception of Game of Thrones. Oh lawd the sight of that fine vanilla Kit Harington alone. Anyway let me keep my dirty thoughts to myself.
Gidi up’s storyline is very relatable, especially to the younger generation. For instance, Hands up if you are trying to pursue a career your parents do not approve of or you are trying so hard not to be a freeloader or depend on your family or you find yourself in the “its complicated/I don’t know where this is going” type of romantic relationship
Regardless of the fact that Gidi Up is made in Nigeria, it is definitely not your average Nigerian type of production and that’s what I love about it. The cast consist of what you may describe as upcoming actors/actresses besides AMVCA winner, O.C Ukeje
So get that data bundle (I know how that can be expensive these days) and check out Gidi up on the Ndani Tv youtube channel or if you are a DSTV subscriber then you can check it out weekly on African Magic. Trust me, you would love it.
I was very disappointed when I found out that the famous Ankara fabric is not originally from Africa. If the motherland is where you reside then you would know that African print fabrics have been with us for many generations. Today ladies, I bring to you (what I would like believe are trendy and fashionable) celebrity looks to help inspire you spice up your wardrobe.
I don’t know about going shopping dressed in this outfit but Basketball Wives Star Draya Michele sure had many people drooling when she was spotted in this outfit designed by Preme Houston. Casual but yet sexy and very gorgeous
Even Topshop has caught the African Print bug. Mtv Presenter Laura Whitmore stunned us with this number. Checkout the guy photo bombing.
Designed by Chen Burkett, Toya Wright’s outfit is also an edgy and stylish option
Ladies I hope these celebrity looks inspired your outfit choices when it comes to African prints. If they did not, well whatever I am no fashionista
If you are a fan of the “Haba Haba” singer then you would love this. Kenya’s finest femcee STL aka Stella Mwangi gives us the chance to see what went down behind the scenes of her latest music video Biashara which is actually a Swahili word for business. Enjoy
